Ranch style homes, sometimes known as Bungalows, or single-story homes, are very popular these days for many different reasons. With our aging population many buyers prefer this style of home because it offers the potential for single-level living, whereby a homeowner could have all the rooms they need all on the main level of the home. Ranch homes typically feature the master bedroom and at least one guest bedroom on the main level, with a main level laundry a bonus.
Ranch homes do typically carry a bit of a higher price per square foot compared to homes with several stories. This is usually due to the larger footprint of the home. Because ranch homes have so many more rooms on the main level, that level has to have more square feet. A larger footprint for the home requires a larger lot, hence the higher price. In most neighborhoods there are less ranch homes than multi-story homes, meaning they are less of a commodity also.
